Molding Engineer

The incumbent is responsible for plastic injection tooling and molding project management for new product development, transferred project, capacity expansion as well as continuous improvement for production tooling. Specifically:

Key duties and responsibilities:

1. Sustaining Engineering

• Responsible for monitoring and evaluating production tooling performance at vendor site and lead the project to develop new tooling for capacity expansion and replacement/renewal.
• To trouble shoot IOL and injector defects potentially related with injection molding production which occurs in the vendors' manufacturing sites (Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, etc.), drive solutions with data analysis and fact-based approach.
• To be involved in saucing of alternative vendor of plastic tooling and molding production for long term business sustainability.

2. New Product Development Support

• Work as project leader, coordinate between R&D and tool maker, develop new tooling from prototype stage until mass production stage.
• Work with in-house manufacturing and quality team collaboratively to qualify new tooling. The tooling is for injector parts, IOL optical PP mold, and process aids for material production.
• Compile tooling and molding related documentation in accordance to the regulatory requirement and keep the high quality standard of molded components.

• Initiate the Change Control submission and review, conduct Risk Assessment, draft and get Validation Plan, Validation Protocol and Report reviewed and approved based on the project master timeline

   

Education

Bachelor degree in mechanical or chemical engineering field related to plastic injection molding, or diploma in Engineering with more than 3 years experience in project management of customized mold design.

Experience

• More than 3 years experience in project management of customized mold design.Foundation molding process knowledge is required, and Scientific Molding practitioner is added advantage to the position.

• Track record of tooling project management experience, dealing with tool makers and molding suppliers in the region.

   

Skills & Qualifications

Good communication, data analysis and problem-solving skills and ability to multi-tasking.Logical thinking and good communication skill in English are required.
